How we started

​

The Bonsai Centre is run by Clive & Ann McIntyre, who together enjoy the fascinating art of Bonsai. Clive is the "creative" one, with over 20 years of experience in growing, creating and taking care of Bonsai. As with many Bonsai enthusiasts, the interest became a hobby - and then you get to the point where you have so many that you have to start selling them! Whilst Ann is also keen about Bonsai and helps look after the trees, her main role is the administration.

 

Clive is keen to encourage others to learn more about Bonsai and dispel some of the fears people have about owning one. Since starting up business at The Bonsai Centre, the most common phrase heard from visitors is "I had a Bonsai once, but it died". This is the main reason why the Bonsai Workshop is so popular, as many people want to know more about Bonsai and how to look after them before launching in to a collection of their own. Others who already have a Bonsai join a Bonsai Workshop to discover how they can take better care of it, re-pot it and keep it in good shape for themselves.
